Through the lens of sustainability, we asked: what do we eat? How is it produced? And who feeds the world? Above all, we reaffirmed: transformation is possible. Together.

From powerful talks to hands-on Learning Journeys, we explored how food systems work and how they can work better: more justice, diversity, and regenerative.

João Campari reinforced the need for cross-ministry coherence to meet Brazil’s climate goals. Finance must flow, through tools like the Climate Fund and inclusive strategies, so frontline communities can lead the way to a just, sustainable food future.

Toni emphasized: smallholder farmers, Indigenous Peoples, and traditional communities are not only impacted by climate change, they are part of the solution. With regenerative agriculture, they protect biodiversity and build resilient food systems.

In her closing remarks, Ana Toni, Executive Director of @COP30noBrazil, highlighted that democratic choices drive inclusive change. In just 2.5 years, Brazil lifted 24 million people out of hunger, thanks to strong support for family farming and food sovereignty.

Jarot Indarto, Director of Food and Agriculture at BAPPENAS (Indonesia), shared his country's journey in integrating food, nutrition, and climate policies through the Convergence Initiative.

H.E. Demba Sabally, Minister of Agriculture of The Gambia, emphasized the crucial role of youth leadership and cross-sector collaboration in building inclusive and resilient food systems.

Moderated by Stefanos Fotiou, Director of the FAO Office for Sustainable Development Goals and Director of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, session 5 brought together global leaders to discuss how to align food systems action with climate and development goals.

These sessions reinforced the need for integrated approaches that connect environmental, nutritional, and socio-economic priorities. Designing sustainable food futures means working together—across disciplines, sectors & regions. #SustainableFoodSystems.

In both workshops, participants formed working groups to co-create practical solutions. The focus: moving from discussion to implementation, identifying key levers of change, and building cross-sector synergies.

At the final #SFSPConference workshops, participants joined two dynamic sessions focused on action & collaboration:.•Workshop 5: Aligning food systems with biodiversity, nutrition & climate goals.•Workshop 6: Building circular food systems & reducing food loss and waste.

Ricardo Mota, from the Pact Against Hunger, highlighted that over 70% of Brazilians can't afford a healthy diet. Food inflation and affordability must be tackled with evidence-based, cost-effective, and dignity-driven public policies.

He called for participatory science, inclusive policy making, and deeper engagement with society. To him, transformation demands new frameworks for knowledge, governance, and civic involvement.

Sociologist Sergio Schneider (UFRGS) stressed: the old policy model—problems from society, research by science, solutions from government, no longer works. “We live in a different world and can’t rely on old tools,” he warned.
