Uncanny. 5 minutes before arriving at Potton Hall where Harriet Mackenzie & Nikolai Medvedev will be recording Dodgson violin & piano works, what should be playing on Radio 3's Night Tracks but another Dodgson recording 'Evening Hymn' performed by Sonoro? How auspicious!

Today would have been Stephen Dodgson's 101st birthday! His life and work merit more than 280 characters on X. A bit over 280 pages instead, we recommend this! "A heartfelt and thoughtful tribute" ★★★★ BBC Music Magazine https://t.co/zozRzHvYJo

Today SD would have been 101. On Saturday we heard his atmospheric Essay No. 7 open Barnes Music Festival – played by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Vivid with cross-rhythms while different ideas nebullously, kaleidoscopically came into and out of focus. Very Dodgson!
