Firefighters at the Hot Brook Fire just west of Hot Springs are working today on containment and securing fire lines. Current size is estimated at 20 acres with 25% containment. The terrain is rugged and tough to access. Hopper Canyon Rd is currently open to local traffic only.

Gov. Larry Rhoden signed House Bill 1001 into law Monday, which provides for prescribed burning of state-owned land by a person owning adjoining land. Present at the signing were legislative sponsors, several affected landowners, and DPS representatives.
