Spooky Storytelling with Mrs. Esposito & Mrs. Zlochower. Students got into the Halloween spirit by writing a spooky story! Each story, had an original character, eerie setting, tricky problem, & clever solution. They shared their stories around a campfire. @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

Science is “alive!” Mrs. Metz’s 5th graders had a Spooktacular time observing and engaging in chemical reactions during Halloween stations. They made ghosts dance, helped Frankenstein grow hair, and made their own monster lava lamps. @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

Kindergartners held their magic pumpkin seeds tight, closed their eyes, said three times "I am wishing and hoping for a pumpkin to grow", and then tossed their seeds in the air. Guess what happened the next morning? Magical wishes do come true at MTP! @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

Officer Karl Allison from the Suffolk County Police Department Community Relations Bureau spoke to MTP students about the many roles of a police officer, the dangers of bullying, vaping and cigarettes and also how to stay safe on the internet. @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

MTP students & staff support Unity Day. They dressed in orange, to build awareness & demonstrate commitment to taking a stand for kindness, acceptance, & inclusion as a strategy to combat bullying. Students shared over 450 messages in promoting Unity Day! @SCSD_MTP @SmithtownCSD

MTP Kindergarteners had fun visiting the local firehouse. Students learned about fire safety, what the equipment on a firetruck is used for, and how helpful ambulances are. They even saw what a Fireman looks like during a rescue! @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

The Hook & Ladder Fire Safety visited MTP Kindergarteners. Students had fun learning about fire safety & prevention. They enjoyed the fire fighter obstacle course, dressing in firefighter gear, and using a fire hose to put out a simulated fire. @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

The New York Blood Centers "Little Doctors Program" visited MTP 4th & 5th graders. They learned the importance of blood donation. This program aims to build teamwork skills & enthusiasm in kids to help for community service, leading to future blood donors. @SmithtownCSD @SCSDMTP

Kindergarteners are Apple “solutely” ready for fall. Students had a great time participating in Apple Centers. They enjoyed tasting different apples, graphing their favorite one, and strengthened their fine motor skills doing various apple activities. @SmithtownCSD @SCSD_MTP

READING ROCKS 📖 🎤 Students at @SCSD_MTP celebrated their hard work of reading over the summer with some karaoke singing & fun activities this morning. The students read every day in July and August to receive a certificate of completion and their names displayed in school.
