📌 Final Note: This story shows the difference between preserving narrations and understanding rulings. Hadith knowledge alone is not enough — the Ummah also needs fiqh.

9️⃣ At that point, the others said: “Yes, so-and-so narrated it… we know this narration through such-and-such chain…” They returned to mentioning isnād and narrators.

8️⃣ Abu Thawr said: “If she could pour water on the hair of the living, then this is even more applicable for the deceased.”

7️⃣ He gave the proof: The hadith of ‘Ā’ishah (ra), that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Your menstruation is not in your hands.” And the statement of ‘Ā’ishah (ra): “I used to part the hair of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with water while I was menstruating.”

6️⃣ She turned to him and asked the same question. He replied immediately: “Yes, it is permissible.”

5️⃣ Then Abu Thawr approached. They said to her: “Ask the one who is coming.”

4️⃣ None of them answered her. They looked at each other. No one gave her a ruling.

3️⃣ The woman asked them: “Is it allowed for a menstruating woman to wash the dead? I am the one who washes the deceased.”

2️⃣ They were busy saying: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said…” “I heard…” “So-and-so narrated it…” “No one narrated it other than him…” Chains of narration, discussions of who reported what.
