Well, this is starting to look like an actual real line of toys! We’ve got two more Tri-Galactic Trek characters underway… and I may manage to add an avian one, depending on how fast I can write the book, before the big Vegas Star Trek convention in August.

Me: writes a short story inspired by my feelings in a situation Me: converts the short story into a song with the assistance of Claude/GPT/Gemini and Suno Me, listening to the song that was originally based on my own feelings: “Wow, this song is relatable.”

The men in Bridgerton sitting around in their evening club with all their freedom to break the basic rules of their society, dividing women into two extremely distinct classes, is not all that different from the illicit club and caste system for women in The Handmaid’s Tale.

I enjoy Bridgerton, but honestly, I think I watch it more like a well-constructed piece of horror about an absolutely heartbreaking dystopia than a romance. It’s just not possible for me to see relationships with such incredible power imbalances as anything but deeply upsetting.

Off. The. Charts.

Okay, so, clearly this season of Bridgerton is Cinderella… but the Beauty and the Beast vibes of episode three are off the charts.

We’ve upgraded the plastic for Commander Bill Wilker to a more collie-like orange-brown. I’m thinking that the darker brown will be perfect for Grawf, who we’ll be designing next.

A couple pieces didn’t print out right (so she’s missing some parts); we used the wrong breastplate file (13 instead of star paw logo); and she’s still in the not-red-enough plastic… But here’s a first taste of how I’m thinking of doing Dr. Waverly Keller’s blue uniform.

The colors are all wrong here… she should be wearing blue, her paws should match, and her head will probably actually use a slightly more burgundy brown plastic… but I think we got the shape of Dr. Waverly Keller’s head right on the first try.

Experimenting with the idea of different ways to do the shoulders, adding a touch of black to the upper arms.

I wrote “The Three Laws of Social Robotics” as an allegory for how invisible I felt in some of my friendships, as a way of wrestling with the feelings. I was beyond thrilled to have it published in Analog, and I love that I can now listen to it as a song: https://t.co/fcrhRUWSfs

My story “Harvesting Wishes” is a piece of space opera about dandelions, multiple realities, genies, and quantum hyper crystals. The song turned out so pretty; it’s a perfect end to the album, being about choosing to live in the reality you have: https://t.co/10bggtWm0h

I strongly identified with Worf as a kid, but over the years, I’ve come to mostly… not love Klingon episodes. Their ideas about honor are generally problematic, contradictory, self-damaging and kinda foolish. All that said… I love, love, loved today’s new Starfleet Academy.

And also, now I get to start trying to convert Tri-Galactic Trek into song… which is kind of intimidating but in a good way.
