Call me old school but I just don’t love the photoshopped image of a high school commit playing in his college’s uniform. A little photo shoot on your visit, sure that’s cool man. But there’s a hell of a lot more work to do before you get to pimp a homer in that jersey.

We all have to find the balance between the shiny stuff that looks/feels good, and the unheralded work required to maximize those opportunities and reach our potential as a player. It can't be one or the other for the players or for the programs they play for.

Same can be said for the other side of the coin. If we hunker down and just train in a facility or don't get out and play good comp, the opportunity to experience, compete, fail, learn & grow isn't maximized. It's easy to feel like you're winning when there isn't a scoreboard.

There is an opportunity cost to spending 40+ days on the road in the summer, and that cost is the focused work in the weight room, cages, bullpen, and on the practice field. If the goal is to maximize your potential long term, the foundations have to be built in training NOW.

The shiny stuff reenforces position. "We go to these events and do all this stuff". That is great, but alone doesn't aid us in the future if our goal is to reach our ceiling. The work, the training, the things in the margins are what keep the trajectory climbing.

But if you think for a second that players are going to fully benefit from those things while neglecting the focused, messy, non-clout gaining work done behind the scenes, you're wildly mistaken. @gregolsen88 explains it so well on his @YouthInc podcast. Trajectory > Position

Players/parents want to do the shiny stuff, and it makes sense. There is value in the shiny stuff. Competition, environments, motivation etc. Experiences for HS players and the relationships built within those experiences are at the core of why we play/coach this game.

Just talked to a parent of a 2027 player. Invited to Team Elite West National blah blah blah, that is headed all over the country this summer. Thankfully, this parent asked "what is the infrastructure for player development outside of games?" Crickets........

Little spot on Broncos O-Lineman Quinn Meinerz before the game tonight. Not a 4 year starter in HS, Division 3 player, trained in Canada knocking down trees, taught himself a new position. Just focus on getting better and working. That’s it.

Kevin Gausman takes the mound tonight in Toronto with a chance to win a ring. Fellow @GrandviewWolves, Colorado’s top arm and long time Rogue trainee, @EthanWachsmann is looking to follow in Gausman’s footsteps. Hear what he has to say about building that foundation at Rogue.

The umpires are the real champions of this game. Haven’t taken a seat in 7 hours.

Broncos’ 33 fourth-quarter points were the most points in the fourth quarter by any team that had been shut out in the first three quarters in NFL history.

No one provides more value than Rogue Baseball. Every detail of our summer program is deliberate — built to optimize each player’s development. ✅ Year-long facility membership ✅ Small group hitting and defensive training ✅ ArmCare sensors to monitor arm health ✅ Ravik Spin

Love how he handled this. Owned it, acknowledged that it sucks, even flashed a laugh in there. Hoping he has a long and successful career

The Ravik Spin Command Baseball was developed at our facility and has been a game changer for our players. They're now live on Amazon and ready to help throwers all across baseball improve their game. https://t.co/7TutpW8Wsk
