As always, Weirton is fighting back against what DC is doing to its steel industry. Today is the last day of session here in Charleston, but it’s great to see the turnout back at home!

It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing. As we head into the last week of the session, I’m hopeful that the House of Delegates will take up SB 190, my bill that will finally end the marital exception to West Virginia’s sexual abuse crimes.

This afternoon I introduced a resolution on the senate floor encouraging military veterans across West Virginia to volunteer as election workers. As one of the most trusted demographics in the nation, who better to help run our elections!

Couldn’t be more proud to see Alex named on this list! I’ve never seen anyone else work as hard as she does to help make WV a better place. We can all learn from her drive and determination to bring about real change in the state we call home.

With this week’s death of retired BG John “Doc” Bahnsen, West Virginia has lost a true American Hero. Doc was one of the most decorated officers in the history of the United States Armey. It was a privilege to call Doc a friend & my thoughts go out to Peggy & his entire family.

I have this picture from Weirton’s 1983 Fourth of July parade hanging in my office. Unfortunately, the sign on the truck is still true today - and once again we see a decision made in DC putting steel workers in Weirton out of a job.
