I have personal gripes with Wicked as a kid’s musical or movie. The book is over 400 beautiful pages detailing the life of a complicated sad woman, mostly through the eyes of her family and friends. She is failed by those who love her and fails to help those she loves as well.

Words fail, I can’t express my deep awe inspired horror at existence, the confusing panic to feel both love & despair. The mind’s ability to contemplate & torture itself with abstract notions that have no conclusion. That we go on existing anyway is maddeningly absurd yet true.

Translation is an act of change, something is lost while something else is gained, when crossing across language. It’s never neutral, even regarding words with an obvious simple counterpart.

While I much prefer the texts of the late medieval era (Dante’s Commedia) The epitome of koinḗ greek literature is sadly the Bible. Reading holy texts as a nonbeliever is fascinating regardless, as i’ve learned from the latin Vulgate and english translations of the Quran.
