My post in response to @HonAhmedHussen and the well written article by @TondaMacC and @aballinga. Let's all work together to make this a reality #EarlyChildhoodEducation https://t.co/5vMZmyVLnn

All told, ambitious plan but light on details. The creation of another 'Advisory Panel' will feel like groundhog day, but if they can achieve it, it would indeed be this government's legacy.

Budget 2021 Childcare - The Bad (continued): - With a 5 year timeframe, most parents with children in care today will never see this benefit them directly - Use of the word 'on average' which means not everyone will pay $10 a day. More details are needed on this for broad support

Budget 2021 Childcare - The Bad: - Missing is the 'How' (the hardest part). What are they going to do differently than the others who have failed? - Reliance on the Quebec model, which in no way is a perfect system. In fact it is fraught with many challenges they must address.

Budget 2021 Childcare - The Good: - Sustained funding - Focus on accessibility and quality - Reduction of parent fees - Reducing barriers for women to return to/join the workforce - Investments in educators - Recognition this will not be easy #federalbudget2021 #childcare

while also respecting parent choice, success is achievable in the long run. While the Quebec model makes for a good case study, the conditions that initially drove it were unique, and the outcome we see today has not been entirely what they planned. #childcare #federalbudget2021

resistance (as opposed to starting from scratch, which is entirely unfeasible). Ultimately, each Province shares similar goals - affordability, access, quality, and investment in educators - if they can start with those commonalities,

Success of this new plan is contingent on various factors, notably flexibility for the Provinces and predictable and sustained funding. There is considerable infrastructure already established in each Province for child care, so building off of that is the path of least

With $2B expected to be earmarked towards child care in the Federal Budget today, the devil will be in the details. Child care is Provincial jurisdiction, and a push for a 'national' system has failed because of this in the past.

Each day, more of our educators are receiving their vaccines. Helping Hands Daycare wants to send a big thank you to our healthcare partners who are exhaustively running vaccine clinics and going through their waitlists each night to ensure no dose goes unused. @DurhamHealth

Well done to Min @Sflecce and the Vaccine Distribution Task Force. Including early childhood educators in Phase 2 was the correct decision. They have worked so hard to create a sense of normal for children in our communities, and the importance of their work has been recognized.

Having been a part of creating dozens of political ads in my younger days, I can confidently say the ads from Newfoundland and Labrador are > all others.

Not all heroes wear capes, but our heroes wear face masks and eye protection. Helping Hands would like to recognize all of our educators who have created safe, fun, and educational environments for our families. You have truly created 'normal' during times that are anything but!

It was my pleasure to present @DawsonCanada with the 2020 @PAAC84 Award of Distinction today, during our Annual Conference. Although it was virtually, we managed to get the award to the US in the hands of a very deserved recipient, AND posed in front of the maple leaf! Congrats!
