It's weird how saying "don't follow illegal orders" is somehow treason and sedition and stuff. Why would that be, if...you...weren't planning to give illegal orders?

It seems to me that if we're so very suddenly so very concerned about the safety of Christians in Nigeria, perhaps we shouldn't have reduced the validity of travel visas from Nigerians just a few months ago, and we should, instead, allow/encourage them to seek safe asylum.

The President's about to cut himself a check for a quarter of a billion dollars, he's got "donors" rebuilding the White House to his personal tastes without a single bit of permission from anyone, anywhere, and we're killing people in broad daylight and laughing about it. Fuck.

Our government system is built around the idea of shame and guilt and decency and conscience (or at least the appearance of those things, which I guess all died with McCain?) stopping this sort of thing. And all of those ideas are dead and corpse-fucked, because here we are.

But now even THAT status quo is broken, because one branch of government -- one MAN atop that branch of government -- is just doing literally whatever the fuck he wants, and the other two branches are too busy taking turns fawning and grifting to even try to stop him.

Fuck your checks and balances, if there's no check for this behavior, and nothing to balance it. Our entire system is predicated on maintaining the power of white supremacists and the wealthy, but balancing that power 'fairly' through a three-pronged system of government.

What the fuck is wrong with us as a country? We've got a twice-impeached felon serial sexual assaulter literally destroying the White House and a Fox News host smugly ordering military drone strikes on civilians in international waters... AND EVERYONE IS JUST FINE WITH IT.

How the fuck is Congress just letting this happen? The courts? The Pentagon? Our military leaders? When I swore an oath, I was also taught to refuse unlawful orders. And here we are. Murdering fishermen and other civvies, and showing off the clips like it's Call of Duty.

We've hit an eighth vessel on open waters. An eight civilian vessel, flying no enemy flag, we're not at war with anyone, none of them presented any clear violent threat to anyone. And we've just openly murdered 34+ people, and they're all bragging and joking about it.

These are interstate criminal organizations for racketeering, drug dealing, murder, and more... and here they are, sucker punching and beating people who are exercising their first amendment rights. And here comes the "tough on crime, pro-Constitution," guys, cheering it on.

The number mediocre straight white nerds that are absolutely apoplectic about a one-off piece of art for a fundraiser event is as utterly predictable as it is utterly pathetic.

Jesus fucking Christ, we used to be a serious country.

These days we have a career philanderer, con man, swindler, multiple convicted felon, judicially recognized rapist, Epstein-files-regular, serial sexual assaulter, senile, incompetent, buffoon, who posts AI videos of himself throwing shit at people like a monkey at the zoo.

Remember when the President of the United States of America used to be a title that held some gravitas, dignity, and respect? What a scandal Obama's suit color was? Howard Dean's presidential aspirations ending because he yelped weird? Dan Quayle's utter humiliation re: potato?

FUN FACT: the violent crime rate in Chicago is lower than that in Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Lubbock, Pasadena, or San Antonio, Texas. It's less than HALF the violent crime rate of Houston. If they're going to fight crime...why not start with their home state, Texas?
