Not taking away from Torkelson, but this isn't a DP w/out Baez and his footwork around the bag. A quiet shuffle from inside to outside the bag, a quick turn of the feet and hips, and a laser back to 1st. Nothing flashy, but an excellent play.

I'm not usually one to jump on umpires. I agree with him and appreciate him taking accountability. That said, the ejection was ridiculous. You cannot run someone for what he said. And if you wave off a HC like that, you have no business in a high-pressure game. Just brutal.

I'm not a huge fan of throwing at guys much any more. Pitcher better is my usual response. But you do this to one of my guys? You get what you get. Also, if you're the guy getting drilled, swallow that pain dude, you had to know it was coming. Bush.

100% this. If you blame umpires for a loss, all you do is allow you and the team to make excuses for failure. You're going to get just as many calls as the other guy throughout the season. And I've still never heard a coach say, "thanks to the umpires, we won today.".

We spend a lot of time having youth players focus on fielding with two hands. That can get confusing when working on angles. Most glove work is done with only the glove hand. They may make E's early but let them be athletic, it will pay off as they get older.

Especially with youth players, I've found spending more time teaching balance, posture, etc., in dynamic warmups gives me significantly more time to focus on specific mechanics, or the mental side of a position. Sort of like playing catch, make it habit so it's becomes natural.
