🧵Most people assume: “If a Handshake name works in https://, that means it’s legit.” But this is a misunderstanding of how the web works. HTTPS was built inside the ICANN DNS world not for decentralized roots like Handshake. Let’s break it down. 👇

RUSH + IPFS = Hassle-free Web Builder for $HNS TLD Owners Build and go live in 1-2-3. No need for NB or SS. No nameserver changes. A TXT record on-chain → your website is live. Decentralized. Simple. Ownership-first. Built for the $HNS - powered by @RushBrowser

Upcoming Release 2.3 – @RushBrowser We may integrate the BOB wallet extension directly into Rush, since Chrome no longer supports it - bringing a full HNS wallet natively into the browser. 2.3 is currently in testing, and if all goes well, we may launch it asap.

If the Handshake wants long-term independence, collision-freedom, and native identity, then giving it its own protocol is the natural direction. 🤝

hns:// gives Handshake what HTTPS never can: Native verification DANE trust without CAs Zero name collision risk Direct resolution without DNS hijacking A protocol identity of its own This is how Handshake becomes Handshake, not “alternative DNS inside ICANN’s rules.”

That’s why the community should think beyond “HTTPS compatibility.” Handshake is not a subdomain of ICANN! It’s a new naming layer with its own trust model.🔥 To express that properly, it deserves its own protocol - just like ipfs://, btc://, mailto://, etc. Enter: hns://

So what’s the point of HTTPS for Handshake? Honestly… ❌ No added security ❌ No ICANN alignment ❌ No long-term stability ❌ No collision protection ❌ No native browser trust HTTPS was invented to secure a centralized DNS. Handshake replaces that entire model!

Meanwhile, Handshake already has something more powerful: 🔐 Built-in DNSSEC 🔑 Built-in DANE verification 🧱 On-chain ownership This gives cryptographic identity at the naming layer - something HTTPS never had. We don't need old CA system. The chain itself is the trust!

And here’s the big issue: If ICANN ever launches the same TLD (like .music, .web, .app, etc.)… Your HTTPS Handshake name breaks instantly. Browsers will ALWAYS prioritize ICANN’s version. This is the unavoidable reality of using HTTPS for Handshake.

When a Handshake domain loads via https://… it only works because a resolver spoofs DNS and “pretends” the domain exists. That’s not global support. It’s a local workaround. The browser still thinks: the TLD is invalid cookies are unsafe security boundaries are unknown

HTTPS depends on 3 centralized systems: 1️⃣ ICANN root zone 2️⃣ Public Suffix List 3️⃣ Certificate Authorities (CA/B Forum) If your TLD isn’t part of these systems, the browser treats it as unofficial, even if it loads through a resolver. Handshake lives outside all 3!

Rush 2.2 has a Home button (keeps reloading) bug and a Bookmarks (clear all) bug, and these issues affect overall smooth performance. A fixed stable build drops in 1 hour - avoid downloading until then.
