The @uniofjyvaskyla is offering 85 doctoral researcher positions in ten field-specific pilot projects, one of which is EDUCA-Doc with 22 positions.

The factors highlighted the importance of having a space for the child to be heard and involved in family discussions, having a space for differing viewpoints and critical thinking, parental competencies and positive parental attitudes towards schooling and learning.

13 supportive and nine hindering factors were identified. Many of these factors went beyond the reading act itself.

Using a Delphi method, 32 experts in Finland 1) listed home-related factors that they judged to either support or hinder the development of critical reading skills, 2) evaluated the importance of the factors, and 3) ranked the factors they considered as most important.

Critical reading is an important civic skill for all. This concerns also children and adolescents many of whom encounter disinformation online but lack the necessary critical reading skills. So far, little is known what the role of home in critical reading skills development is.

The results showed 1) that students' word reading skills in the fall were associated with literacy activities in the spring, and 2) literacy activities, most notably supporting students' understanding, in the fall were associated with students' reading comprehension in the spring
