The Long Hall is a poem written by time. A house bursting with history. Among Dublin's supreme treasures. And, perfect porter. First of our Christmas 2025 houses. @TheLongHallPub

A column on our greatest national treasure: Palliative Care Hospices. And the extraordinary, saintly people who work their selfless magic. I love sport, pubs, books. But the staff who ease our loved ones through their final days, they blow my mind. The greatest of us.

Simply the most beautiful room in Dublin @Thebankbar is the architectural equivalent of Luke Kelly, shut eyed and lost in the moment, emptying himself into Raglan Road. A gorgeous bar, always. At Christmas, supreme.

On the 20th anniversary of a genius passing... A piece from earlier on Geroge Best. The Belfast boy who elevated Old Trafford to a theatre for dreamers.

Dublin's inner-city. Gold. Troy Parrott's tears touched the nation's soul. Like Kellie Harrington a year earlier. A column on a part of Ireland that sparkles like a priceless diamond. Ignored. Dismissed. Mocked. Magnificently defiant.

Dublin with the lights on. A thunderously beautiful town. A gang of us - led by Anton O'Toole - used to visit the Library Bar. Reopened this week after many years. A vital part of the city resurrected. As Freddie might say, a kinda magic

The greatest sporting days are less about sport than emotions they awaken. Troy Parrott's goals yesterday were rocket ships transporting people to another universe of joy. Where troubles melt. He spoke exactly as you'd want a son to speak. It was beautiful. A song for Ireland.

Troy Parrott. Sings a song for Ireland. Insane. Stark raving bonkers. Wrote this after Portugal. Multiply it by a million today.

Ronaldo. Italia 90. Colm Meaney and The Van. Troy Parrott. An Ireland football team finds different places in the national soul. A column on how days like last Thursday touch people in the deepest parts of the soul. And allow grandma, Da, kids, to hug and love and be happy.

Kevin McManamon. On sharing a house for six years with an international rock star. @TheCoronas and @Tempsyngest, Danny O'Reilly. On the goal that altered the course of Dublin and GAA history. On his late father, Maxi. On his love of music. A fascinating, sound, introspective man.

Dublin's Pro Cathedral received an upgrade from Pope Leo today. Full cathedral status. Briodys, itself a superior basilica, a timeless temple of sociability with its own devoted congregation, sits scarcely a church pew down the road. Marlborough St now houses twin cathedrals.

The question I'm most asked: What's your favourite pub in Dublin? Jaysus... I adore at least 150 pubs in the auld town. 30, I love like children. Starting November 25 is a personal greatest hits month of the taverns that describe a great town's essence. Who are you picking?

🗣️"I lost both my parents to cancer. I found myself shaking with anger while I was writing." 🗣️"He used those six letters, that most people can't speak, as a personal ATM." Roy Curtis speaks powerfully on the DJ Carey sentencing.

Murdered on a honeymoon. A piece on Michaela McAreavey. Mickey Harte's radiant daughter. One of the saddest stories of my lifetime. And how her husband, John, continues to fight for justice.
