Rowlett PD is currently assisting Rockwall County with an ongoing incident, leading to the temporary closure of westbound lanes on I-30 from Horizon Rd. to the Dalrock Rd. exit. The southbound lanes on Dalrock Rd. at Sunset Blvd. are also affected.

On 10/28/22 at 10:51am a Rowlett High School student was assaulted and a suspect displayed a handgun. RHS was placed on Secure & Hold. Police and Garland ISD started an investigation. A handgun was recovered and three juvenile students were arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

This afternoon a jury convicted Ioannis “John” Makris of Capital Murder for his role in the death of Rowlett Police Department VIPS volunteer and mother of three Laura Grillo. Makris was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
