With the new Kick In rule stating that a team has 8 seconds to retrieve the ball and put it back into play (previously 12 seconds), will we see the typical "Designated Kicker" be put to pasture? There's a few teams already doing this, I'm interested to see if it follows AFL-wide

With 23 players playing per team this season in 2026, rather than 22, each player on avg will lose 3.55% game time. How do you think this will affect our premos, mid-pricers, and rookies? Need to be ready for rookies to play up to 10-15% less game time than we're used to imo.

The last time the AFL expressed concerns about the number of stoppages per game was at the end of the 2015 season. This graph highlights the impact the subsequent rule changes had. Stoppages per game plummeted immediately, and continued to drop for several seasons before rising
