I really wanna teach a myth busters science class for 1st year undergrads where I teach them how a vaccine works, why detox products are a fraud, why alkaline water is pointless, and why you shouldn't be so scared of GMO's

How funny - this is my first assignment/activity for Intro Microbiology! I can't wait to see what they come up with. Got any myths in mind that are related to microbiology?

haha hmmm maybe that all microbes are bad? Differences between virus's and bacteria (to get at antibiotic overuse). Idk if this a microbiology topic or not, but also people always think fevers=bad when really fevers are good.

LOVE THIS! If it were me, I'd go with a problem-based learning approach. They learn their misconceptions and the content through an iterative, interactive process that mimics real scientific inquiry. It would be amazeballs.
