Every time a student has an ‘aha’ moment, it reminds me why I love teaching! Their curiosity and excitement are contagious and it’s always a privilege to be part of that learning journey. ❤️📖 #TeachToInspire #LearnTogether #MedTwitter

I had an amazing day with members of Immigrant Women Doctors of Color Circle (IWMDCC). Our shared struggles become sources of strength when we unite and support one another. #IWMDCC #womeninmedicine

2. Find the perfect study partner sooner. (I found a great study partner towards the end and it made me appreciate it a lot. Find someone with the same drive as you but also someone willing to make jokes and keep it light; studying can be fun with the right companion).😊

Things I wish I did: 1. Start my prep as soon as possible after step 1. There is work and life happening and it might be tough; but the sooner the better.

✏︎Think of every block as a new exam, go in to do your best. ✏︎After the exam, negativity bias hit me. I was remembering the tough questions only and it was not fun. For anyone in the same place, don’t do that to yourself, enjoy your break please.

And most importantly, I trusted my preparation and I followed my first instinct to answer the questions. Breaks: 2 blocks, break; 2 blocks, break; then I took a break after each block for the rest.

It was very difficult to concentrate, therefore, I decided to highlight, and I highlighting like a mad woman! 😂 This helped a lot for the long stem questions so that I don’t waste time re-reading the question.

Test day: During my last weeks leading to the exam, I was working on my stamina by doing 2/3 blocks in one sitting. But nothing could have prepared me for those 2 last blocks.😓

· As I revised all these, I realized how I was getting lost in the details, and I started to see the big picture of the concepts. (That helped with questions I was missing because of ‘overthinking’)

6. Assesment exams ✏︎Nbmes: I took 9-14 in the last 2 months. My scores were ranging from 258-265. (so it was a pleasant surprise to see my actual result, which I think was improved because of my last week prep and test day performance)

3. Cms forms: 3-8 for IM and surgery; and for others, 6-8. (I did FM and emergency too) ✏︎For cms and nbmes, I took extra time to write notes for my wrongs questions.

I also used a YouTube channel called Aj mnemonics for rapid reviews) ✏︎ I was planning to do a second pass of UW but after doing the above steps, I was very familiar with the questions. So, I decided I wouldn’t gain much from a second pass and moved to cms forms.
