When I authored Minnesota’s red flag law, I knew it would save lives. Now we have proof. Filings more than doubled in just one year, and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says the law is protecting people from harm. This is why I do this work.

ICE raids have torn families apart — and the fear and economic chaos they leave behind is pushing people toward eviction. I’m pushing for emergency rental assistance to make sure no family gets put out on the street in the middle of winter because of federal overreach.

Good riddance. Under Kristi Noem’s watch, federal agents killed two Minnesotans on our own streets. She called them domestic terrorists. When Congress demanded answers, she refused to apologize. She was a stain on our country, and her removal is long overdue.

And I’m not done. There’s much more work to do, and I’ll keep fighting to keep our communities safe.

As Chair of the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, public safety is an issue I’ve dedicated my career to — authoring Minnesota’s red flag law, expanding background checks, passing the Child Victims Act, and advancing police accountability reforms.

Our republic only works when everyone follows the law — including the federal government. When courts issue orders and those in power choose to ignore them, it becomes a crisis that goes far beyond politics. I’m committed to defending the rule of law and America’s core ideals.

Gun violence prevention shouldn’t be a partisan issue — it’s a safety issue. It’s time to pass common-sense laws that help protect Minnesotans.

We owe it to them to act with urgency and determination - and I won’t rest until we get the job done.

Yesterday, I was proud to stand with Gov. Walz, Annunciation families, legislative leaders, and gun-violence prevention advocates in support of the Governor’s comprehensive plan to reduce gun violence. The families who shared their stories did so with extraordinary courage.

Following the Constitution should not be a Left or Right issue - it’s an American one. I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in supporting the immigration proposals we’ve introduced to help protect the rights and liberties of Minnesotans.

Minnesotans deserve accountability and independent investigations into all deadly use-of-force incidents, including those involving federal agents. That’s why I’m championing legislation to ensure the BCA has a seat at the table when it comes to getting justice for Minnesotans.
