Btw I thought Hincapie had a great performance from a defensive standpoint in particular last night. I also thought he was really good against Wolves too. Obviously he sinks too deep for the Wolves goal, but that one individual action shouldn’t paint the entire story of his

Emphasis on the first paragraph That’s the challenge I’m setting this team. One goal margins naturally leads to stress, irrespective of how comfortable you may feel the game is going in the last stretch of the game. Variance can strike unexpectedly.
David Raya: "I think we need to put game to bed a little earlier, not to have that pressure at end of the game. It's great to keep clean sheets. That makes it easier to win games." [PL]

To keep it extremely simple There are games where Odegaard at RCM makes sense. There are games where Eze at RCM makes sense. And I’d like to see a lot more of Ethan Nwaneri personally. Really love the talent.

Rewatch confirmed to me that Rice was our best player. Calafiori was top too, especially in how he helped us break Everton pressure, but there were one too many cheap giveaways. Rice though man. Our player of the season.

Raya was immense again. His level of consistency is remarkable. Cross collection, how high he plays up the pitch to put out fires and his distribution is top top. Clipped passes to the FBs were superb. Trigger for these deliveries is when the opposition wingers (McNeil and

Something I do want to discuss in relation to variance: Yesterday we deserved the win. We created enough chances to win by a bigger margin and earned the right to three points. And I thought we managed the final 10 minutes really well. However, we do need to be careful with the

When Odegaard drops deep, the half space ahead is left open for Saka to attack that zone, or Timber or Zubimendi. It creates a layer of fluidity. Odegaard dropping also can entice the CM marking him to step out, giving the aforementioned players the chance to arrive inside with

Finally rewatched the Everton game and on Odegaard… The negative discourse around his performance stems from a cognitive bias imo. He was genuinely really good. It’s the anchoring effect in full flow, where the moment you see him situationally drop deep, it’s being regularly

This is all round great play: - Top run from Gyokeres to drag the backline closer to Pickford - Keane is very likley to cut off the cross to Gyokeres, so the decision from Timber to cut it back to Saka was 100% the right call Saka should score. That’s all there is to it.

Declan Rice monster again tonight. Best player on the pitch.

Saliba is the most talented CB I’ve seen at Arsenal and he was superb for the first 60 minutes of the game. But his level dropped after because of complacency and that’s the weakness I pay real attention to. He knows he’s elite, but that can lead to some careless moments.

Big three points. Just our second win under Mikel against Everton on the road in his tenure. We deserved the win and left goals on the table, but the performance level needs to be much better. Obviously will rewatch to confirm, but there was a lot I didn’t like today. We move
