A happy chance find in Amsterdam today: 1640s gateway taking Hendrick de Keyser designs even further. Sint Olofkapel, Zeeduik: breath of fresh air after seedy dope shops. #gravedigging

No ifs, buts or maybes here. No sign of resurrection to a heavenly reward. Just the simple message that Death awaits us all. How Jolly is that Roger ?

An interesting essay on London's #MagnificentSeven cemeteries. Its a "long read" but there's so much, much more that could be said ..

London’s Highgate Cemetery shows us just how hard it is to keep the dead buried.

The two faces of the headstone raised for Cirsten Biset, who died in 1747. A whole chapter in a book about Memento Mori gravestones could be written about just this one stone. Which is good because that is exactly what I am busy writing just now :o)

@RogerBowdler Cockle Lucas was a well known Southampton eccentric, named his son Albert Dürer & allegedly dressed as a Roman and raced round the town in a chariot. There’s a memorial to him in Chilworth church. He was very talented as the Flora bust demonstrates https://t.co/FJQ1VEvjGL
