It’s probably been said on this app before but Joe Douglas has very obviously bought himself a 2nd swing at QB and anyone saying otherwise should be revoked of their opinion
11 different offensive lineman. 9 different line combinations. 30th in Pass Protection. 31st in Run Blocking.
Here are ~50 Plays of
#Jets
QB Sam Darnold thriving in an environment no one should.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the Commander of Chaos.
A THREAD:
If Mike Maccagnan never botched the Matt Rhule hiring, he would’ve never been outed by Adam Gase, and would’ve never been replaced by Joe Douglas.
So, from the entire
#Jets
fanbase, thank you Mike Maccagnan!
Embarrassing. Clearly if an NFL QB bounces a pass off the dirt like that they don’t belong in the league. I was told this about someone else so I’m sure the narrative will stay consistent.
Sam Darnold flashed his off-script playmaking and ability to turn nothing into something with his legs and his arm. These are his best, in the order they happened. Hope you enjoy this thread as much as I enjoyed making it:
Just a few of my favorite PFF Takes these past few years:
Jets should have used Darnold to trade up for Kyler Murray
Daryl Roberts is better than Darius Slay
They didn't even know who Chris Herndon was last offseason
Gregg Williams was a downgrade from Kacy Rodgers
The only thing I care about regarding the schedule release is to see if the
#Jets
get their first Sunday Night Football game since 11/13/11.
Also excited to see what Zach Wilson’s first career primetime game will be.
Is Jamal Adams the best player on the Jets? Yes.
Is Jamal Adams deserving of a huge extension? Yes.
Is he so much more deserving than Myles Garrett, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, TJ Watt, etc that he needs to be paid NOW while they are content to wait?
You tell me.
ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Louis Riddick will interview Wednesday for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ general manager job, per
@mortreport
and me. Riddick already has interviewed for the GM openings in Houston and Detroit.
It's funny to me how the
#Jets
have the 2nd most wins in the NFL since Week 8 and "fans" on this app still act miserable and complain.
Yes, there are things not to like. But bottom line, the Jets won 6 of their last 8. I don't care how you spin it, that's a good thing. Be happy.

I can say with the utmost honesty that Kerby Joseph earned the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award. He is absolutely deserving and it is unfortunate that I am going to spam vote Sauce Gardner.
The
#Jets
passed on imperfect QBs in the 2017 NFL draft because they believed in their undoubtedly talented but extremely flawed QB, just to pay way above market value the following year to get a new QB after the one they bet on flunked.
Don’t repeat history. Don’t get cute.

The Jets have done it. They have achieved the impossible.
They have made me miss Todd Bowles, Kacy Rodgers, Jeremy Bates, Darron Lee, Buster Skrine, and Kelvin Beachum.
Never thought I'd tweet that.
Someone add any i’m missing, but:
-Blatant hold on the Pacheco TD
-Questionable BitB on Pacheco TD
-Missed grounding call on Mahomes
-Missed hold on JJ11 on the 3rdD scramble
-Egregious call on Sauce on the MC2 INT
How can you even pretend to say it’s not rigged?
I given the
#Giants
their fair share of criticism for taking Saquon over Darnold... but their fans always said "We'll just get a QB next year", and I originally would laugh and say it isn't that easy. But wow, they actually pulled it off.
Just saw an unreal stat on NFL Network.
Sam Darnold has gone 4 games without an interception. That is the longest streak by a Jet QB since Mark Sanchez...
“I’m going into my 2nd yr, so I can’t say I’m the best CB, cause it’s about what you do every wk, every yr. Right now, my favorite CB is DJ Reed, my favorite nickel CB, Michael Carter II, but they have to keep proving it every day.”- Sauce Gardner
#Jets
Pocket presence to drift right on his drop back, poise to stand in there take the hit, the anticipation to lead Griffin, and the ball placement hitting him in the hands.
It's unbelievable that people think Darnold was the reason the
#Jets
lost. He did his part. No one else did.
I hate the Jets. You could’ve easily beat the Patriots, Chargers, and Raiders. You lost to yourself, you were not beat. You traded for a HoF QB, he gets hurt, and yet you STILL were in control of your own destiny but could NOT get out of your own way. I hate you
Former Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson is still out there and someone I really like for the
#Jets
.
Was buried on the KC depth chart but made due with his snaps. Only 27 and shouldn’t cost too much. He’s the exact type of WR you want as WR4.
Not Denzel Mims and Jeff Smith.
Why is it suddenly that we need to draft another Jamal Adams or we lost the trade?
If we can add 2 players who are 70% of what Jamal Adams was but at OL, WR, Edge, CB etc all while getting cheaper, younger, and QUIETER...
the trade will have been a success.
Jets fans are honestly the worst. According to all of the Jamal Adams is a bust because he couldn't tackle his rookie year, Maye is a bust because he missed 1 season with an injury, and Darnold is a bust because he had a bad 3 game stretch w/o an OL. They don't know patience.
If the Quinnen Williams rumor is true, this team is genuinely cursed. Robby getting pulled over, Sheldon re-enacting 2 Fast 2 Furious, Geno getting punched, has there ever been an offseason without some weird out-of-the-blue story?
Leave it to the Jets to finally land a talented QB with unparalleled potential and immediately follow it up with one of their worst HC hirings in Franchise History... and to pour gasoline on the fire they're going to "remain patient".
It's really hard to suggest passing on an OL in Round 1, but if the Jets were able to sign Robby Anderson to a WR2 contract, then add Jeudy/Lamb as WR1 + Herndon back... Darnold would have an exciting and electric set of young skill players to grow with.
Really sucks how Marcus Maye struggled with injuries early in his career (knock on wood). He doesn't get half the respect he deserves. I'd argue he is just as good of an open field tackler as Jamal. Having 2 safeties that can do this is invaluable.
If you told me in the preseason I'd watch a regular season game without:
Quincy Enunwa
Chris Herndon
CJ Mosley
Avery Williamson
Jamal Adams
Le'Veon Bell
Brian Poole
Our entire starting OL sans KB
I'd cry.
How does this happen.

and safety Eddie Jackson have reached agreement on a 4-year, $58.4M extension with $33M in total guarantees, per his agency. The deal makes him the highest paid safety in league history.
