To me, the emotions and vibes, conversations and topics are all interestingly similar, but this time from long term investors, asset managers and hedgefunds. Personally I think it's because our 2021 was their 2013. The real question is how much will the OG whales let them take.

I work with all kinds of traders, from family offices to banks, intermediaries, trading firms, market makers and VIP clients, helping them get onboarded, integrated and providing support when needed.

I discovered that I really enjoyed that process, going to conferences, meeting people and trying to help make things happen. So today, I'm part of the KuCoin Institutional team, acting as a Senior BD and helping grow their client base and manage past relationships.

After our alpha degraded, my partner stepped away to focus on new things and I realized I needed to network and get more involved in the crypto community. From Sept 2024 to Sept 2025 I was traveling the world, attending conferences and meeting some amazing people.

We ran that alpha for around 18 months. We were uncontested for ~6 months, battled other small guys like us for ~9, and then we started to get out-paced by co-located firms. But we were successful. Paid off debts, made risky investments and made life a little more comfortable.

All said and done, we accidentally (without knowing what we really were doing) built an entire MM HFT Software suite from the ground up. We had cross exchange support, exchange specific agents, asset balancing, reporting, logging, strategy management, market monitoring and more.

1) Teach me how to program 2) Help me build this trading software 3) We'll implement my strategy/ideas 4) I'll fund the initial capital, and manage the capital 5) We split the profits, 50/50. He agree'd, and with his help I learned how to write in Java and we started building.

With the markets on fire, and inefficiencies everywhere, I found some alpha. Some possibly very *good* alpha... if only these trades could be automated. I approached a friend and made him a simple offer.

Fast forward to 2021. Gamestop takes centre stage, and got me re-evaluating the markets. The community there got me learning more about how markets function and how HFT firms work, and it got me looking at the Crypto markets in a whole new light.

After 2017 and experiencing a euphoric cycle and round tripping my main bags, I stepped away to focus on my art business with my wife. I knew eventually we would be back. When I learned about 100x leverage I had fun gambling on speculative tokens with not much success.

Then I started to hunt for manually arbitrage trades between dying/exiting exchanges by looking at the wallets of deeply discounted coins and wait for a poor sap to deposit some coins, buy and withdraw hoping for the request to clear. Those trades would net 5-10x with 100% risk🤡

It wasn't all getting scammed, rugged and eating losses. I had my wins too. In the early days I would jump on the hype train and ride coins, like the ignorant retail trader, I would buy too late and sell too early, but still squeaking out profits along the way.

I've been FTX'd several times over (Cryptsy, Cryptopia, BTC-E to name a few), been scammed, rugged etc. etc. I've seen it all over the years. I like to call myself a survivor, because through it all I still had a piece of my original Dogecoin buy which I still hold today.
