We need a president who is inclusive, & treats people with disabilities, & Carers, with respect. This is the account of an Irish Times journo with disabilities. Humphreys needs to be challenged on her long history of ableism & her recent anti-trans comments. It’s not acceptable.

The Neoliberal idea that we all live to work is destroying lives in damaging health & creating a system where our value as humans is defined by our wealth. Business has a place in society, it is not the reason for society. The president’s job is to show us hope, not mammon.

I want a president who sees their role as representing all the people, not as a trade envoy or palm greaser. We have ambassadors & finance ministers for that. We need a president who sees more to life, than fumbling in the greasy till, adding the halfpence to the pence*

For a candidate to attack one of Ireland’s most vulnerable communities shows a complete lack of inclusivity. The question is, if you are dehumanising a group within the 26 counties - how do you expect to represent inclusivity in the 6 counties?

When I heard the candidate using such confrontational & inappropriate language I was reminded of a key part of fascist orthodoxy & that is the persecution of the trans community. I was also reminded of FG’s original name - the BlueShirts & their fascist origins.
