#pubcrawl We had the pleasure of being at The GOAT Sports Bar for the recent AFL grand final. Located in Panyu in Guangxhou, there's 2 huge screens, and they'll show any sport you want to watch. There's a ripping weekly quiz night and a wide range of beers and food options.

The Asian Cup just keeps giving. Pure madness between Iraq and Jordan! It was even more crazy and enjoyable than the scoresheet suggests. Aymen Hussein scores is sent off for a mocking celebration only for Jordan to score in 90+5 and 90+7 for the last laugh.

Melanie Safka, widely known as just Melanie, has died at age 76. She performed at Woodstock at just 22, and her distinctive voice and emotive lyrics have left an indelible mark on the folk and pop music scenes with "Brand New Key," and "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)."

Bail currently on the ground. Hopefully to be claimed by a West Indian as a souvenir of a great win. #AUSvWI

I always fear I'd do this celebrating a win too hard. It's why I prefer ground level seating. Not even joking.

Fans of The Band and Bob Dylan will enjoy this playlist based on the book Testimony by Robbie Robertson (who died August 2023). This was a really enjoyable read through the history of an iconic music group. From the earliest rock, through to the '80s. https://t.co/9YjS2GLj4A

A classy establishment that fits in nicely to the local surrounds, the hotel has recently had a refit and is pretty schmick. We had a great meal, and the outdoor area looks a wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon. #PubCrawl

PubCrawl: The Feathers at Burnside looks like a relatively aged hotel but, in fact, has only been open since 1966. While nearly 60 years old, the site has a previous relationship to serving alcohol having been a wine salloon.

I preferred the days when cricketers were men. They took a wicket and gave a slight fist pump or a pat on the back. None of this skiptomaloo, my darling, business. πŸ˜† #AUSvWI

Come at me with your counter views or applaud me. Whatever. All I know is I'm secure enough in my love for my country that I'm comfortable with my beliefs. And also comfortable in understanding what makes our country great and where I believe it can be improved.

We've benefited from all that's come before us, including Indigenous custodianship pre-colonisation. The ability to recognise that, my friends, isn't unAustralian. It's actually quintessentially Aussie to be free to have these discussions. Patriotism isn't just blind. Oi oi oi.

That's what mature countries do. They don't shelter/hide from the past. They discuss and learn from it - good and bad. That's the freedom we have as a nation. That's why I love our country - we have the freedom to have those discussions and change what's necessary.

But loving your country doesn't have to be all or nothing hand-on-heart patriotism. There is room for discussion about our history and how we got to where we are - good and bad. The annual Australia Day conversation is necessary, whether the flag-waving patriots think it or not.
