In the Forum we have THE @HRGSkent HERITAGE HUB: where displays include archaeological, WWI and WWII themed exhibitions. A ‘quiz corner’ provides hands on history related activities and touch screens that showcase local research for Sittingbourne and 49 surrounding parishes

@SandKLR was built in 1905 for the transportation of the raw materials required for the manufacture of paper and the finished product. The line, built to a gauge of 2′ 6″, continues to use the steam engines and rolling stock supplied to operate the railway in its working life.

MILTON REGIS COURT HALL dates from c. 1450, originally the town’s civic centre served as a court and administrative centre for the Hundred of Milton. It was central to Milton’s market being the guildhall and trading standards office. It now houses a small museum of local interest

EASTCHURCH AVIATION MUSEUM records the aviation history of Sheppey from the very earliest days of pioneer flying in the UK: the first aviation factory at Muswell Manor, the Short Brothers manufactory at Eastchurch and the service history of the RFC, RNASand AeCGB.

@MinsterGateMusm The Sheppey Timeline, shows the chequered history of the island and leads up the C12 stairway to the roof. The museum houses medieval fireplaces, a collection of fossils, pilgrim crosses, local archaeology, maritime history, costumes, + more items of interest.

@RoseCottageofC one of 3 remaining homes of a that were built for Sheerness Dockyard workers in the C18 and C19 using timber chips from the docks, weather boarded, roofed with Welsh slate are Grade II listed. It is now dressed with objects to evoke the Island’s quirky stories

BLUE TOWN HERITAGE CENTRE at Criterion Blue Town, originally the “New Inn” in 1868 the site became “The Royal Oxford Music Hall” while the Criterion public house, had a music hall called ‘The Palace of Varieties’ situated immediately to its rear.

@Visit_Medway ... and @FortLuton, built in 1876 to help defend Chatham Dockyard from a land attack, was involved in the 1907 Chatham Siege Trials and saw roles in both WW1 as an ack-ack battery and embarkment centre, and in WW2 was converted to a secret Ops Centre for ack-ack guns in the area.
