59 years ago today - August 10, 1966. Heron Road Bridge collapse, 9 dead, dozens injured. In 2016, City Council unanimously endorsed my motion to rename the bridge the Heron Road Workers Memorial Bridge. We will never forget.

National Peacekeepers’ Day. August 9 is National Peacekeepers’ Day, a day that honours all Canadian peacekeepers who have served or who are currently serving in peacekeeping operations around the world. The flags at all City of Ottawa sites will be flown at half-mast today.

This past weekend I was proud to welcome the Urhobo Progressive Ottawa Association to Vincent Massey Park. I appreciated learning more about this organization and their many efforts to assist the Urhobo community. My mouth has finally cooled down after enjoying some Nigerian bbq!
