A fire late afternoon at 1180 Shillington is being classified as an accidental kitchen fire. One resident was assessed on scene for smoke inhalation. A fire earlier this week on the same street was at a different address.

This morning, I testified before the Standing Committee of Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy for public hearings on Bill 9, an Act to amend the Municipal Act, in relation to codes of conduct. Overall, I support the legislation & provided input on needed modifications.

The fire at 1196 Shillington Avenue early this morning was contained to one unit. The resident of the unit was injured and transported to hospital. The cause at this time is suspected arson.

HOPE Beach Volleyball is today at Mooney's Bay Park/Beach. If you are travelling by the park, please use caution there will be many pedestrians crossing at Ridgewood & Mooney's Bay Place.Take care in the sun, use sunscreen, drink plenty of water & stay in the shade when possible.

The HOPE Beach Volleyball Festival is tomorrow in Mooney's Bay Park. Expect heavy volumes of pedestrians along Riverside Dr & traffic in the Riverside Park North community. Holy Cross School, located on Springland, just north of Walkley will offer on-site parking - support them.

500 summer campers descended on McCarthy Park today in River Ward, visiting from all across the urban core. You can make a lot of new friends with a popsicle on a hot day. Thx to all the amazing Recreation staff working this summer!!!
