How about my guy Wabissa Bede who just earned his Bachelor’s degree after just 3 years at Virginia Tech while playing ACC basketball. Nothing short of amazing. Bede will finish his 4 year career at VT with a Master’s degree. Basketball ➡️ education ➡️ life changing opportunities.
We are blessed to be American & in Dallas this weekend competing in a great event. The official calling my game tells both coaches to be patient as he lost his hearing while serving our country in Afghanistan. An excellent official & the real hero of this tournament.
@TheCircuit
We are celebrating big time tonight in
#RivalsNation
. AJ Reeves with 7 threes as Providence College clinches the Big East Championship. Nine years ago we predicted this 8th grader with the big smile would be something special. What a game. What a night for the Mass Rivals.
Our prayers go out to Alum and UConn Freshman Akok Akok. Appears to have just suffered an Achilles injury in a game against Memphis. Has come back out to the bench in uniform to join his teammates. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Akok. We love and praying for you
@akokrakok
.
Wabissa Bede a special young man and talent. The Virginia Tech PG was in the gym tonight working with a 6th grader on dribble penetration moves & then stayed for the next practice to instruct our high school guys. Wabissa Bede represents everything our program was built on.
I remember 5’9 Wabissa Bede as a Merrimack Valley 8th grader with a big dream and yet a bigger heart. Today, the Virginia Tech PG begins plays in his final NCAA tournament (12:15 pm CBS). He will leave VT in 4 years with a Masters degree ready for a D1 coaching career. Dream big!
Kur Teng on his official visit to Providence College today. The consensus top 40 national prospect scores the basketball as good as anybody in the country. Will attend shoot around and then the Villanova-PC game. The state of Rhode Island has been great to our program. All Love.
A great surprise tonight. Wenyen Gabriel came for a visit. The Rivals Basketball Club built it’s reputation on toughness and playing hard. Wenyen Gabriel represents the best of those qualities. One of the hardest workers in the NBA. Love him.
Ed Cooley has done yet another remarkable job coaching his team tonight. Controlled tempo, but yet played fast. Changed up defenses and confused UConn. His guys out toughed an extremely tough UConn team. A coaching clinic. I love Croswell. Give that boy the game ball.
At Providence College, the Dunkin Donuts Center, this morning to watch my beautiful daughter Olivia walk across the stage and get her degree. It’s been a great four years and she’s now ready to go forth and make the world a batter place.
Alum Akok Akok underwent successful surgery late this afternoon in New York to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon. He’s resting comfortably at the hospital and will return to UConn tomorrow. We will continue to keep Akok in our prayers and hope for a speedy recovery. 🙏🙏
To think someone told this North Andover young man he was lucky if he ever got a scholarship. Now he’s the face of the Virginia Tech Hokies in the ACC. Amazing what happens when you believe & outwork everybody. Bede never took “No” for an answer. He translates to the ACC and life
Thank you Bede. Your 5 years as our PG were program altering. You were our leader, heart & soul, and our soothing calmness. You never took “no” for an answer & made sure we never lost a game in that incredible 22-0 Summer. Only 1 Bede in history of Mass Rivals. Love you Wabissa.
Wabissa Bede with 10 assists, 5 points, and 5 rebounds tonight in Virginia Tech’s win. Not going to find a better true point guard in college basketball.
Congrats to our guy Jordan Geronimo on his commitment to Indiana University. An incredible Spring & Summer, an incredible talent, an incredible student, an incredible kid. What a rise. Wow!
For way too long, those who coach grassroots basketball have allowed others to use a broad-brush to paint them as self serving & unethical. Many of these coaches have sacrificed precious family time, money, opened up their homes, tutored & taught life lessons. Time to fight back
Been doing this for a long time and still can’t understand why every elite grassroots team doesn’t want to play the best competition available in every game they play. It’s okay to lose. It’s not okay to play and not maximize improvement. Learning requires both winning and losing
Welcome Noah Vonleh back home as a Boston Celtic. The Mass Rivals is the club Noah built. A top 10 national recruit, one and done at Indiana after leading the Big10 in rebounding, an NBA lottery pick at 18 yrs old who invited me to the Draft green room, an incredible human being.
Thrilled for Makai Ashton-Langford and his commitment to Boston College. Makai the most winning Mass Rival of all time. No player has won more games than Makai in the history of the Mass Rivals. Happy for Boston College who has landed a great local product. Everybody smiling!
#RivalsNation
was blessed when these two young men came into our lives. Incredible talents. Two top 50 prospects. A+ people. Today the duo moves into Providence College to begin Summer sessions. Roommates on our Mass Rivals trips. Now roommates at PC.
Mass Rivals advance to the final 8 of the Sportradar Showdown with a 56 - 54 win over Southern Assault behind an incredible 20 point and 14 rebound performance from Kur Teng.
So happy for my guy DeMarr “Boo” Langford and his commitment to Boston College today. A winner in every way imaginable. One of the finest young men I’ve ever coached. BC got a star of stars.
Alum Jalen Adams with 21 more points tonight to lead UConn to victory. The PG started his senior college season with 1,267 career points. He’s likely to finish his career as one of the top 10 scorers in UConn history.
Junior Marty Silvera scored 21 first half points today to eclipse the 1,000 point mark for Doherty HS. But believe it or not, it’s Marty’s ability to distribute the rock that makes him one of the best PGs in NE. Check out his pass to teammate Norberto Nater.
A good coach improves your game. A great coach improves your game and your life. No matter how many games we win, how many trophies we accumulate, we can never forgot why we chose to coach. No better platform to change lives.
Disappointing that an adult would tell a young man that he owes him loyalty because he got him into a school or gave him a spot on a team. A ridiculous concept.
Kids owe adults nothing. Adults owe kids everything. Mentoring about doing right by kids so one day they pay it forward
Basketball a great game that can take you a lot of places. Alums David Duke, Makai Ashton-Langford, AJ Reeves enjoying Lake Como (on the foothills of the Alps) in Italy with their PC teammates. The guys representing the cities of Providence, Worcester & Boston.

“It’s the one thing you can control. You are responsible for how people remember you—or don’t. So don’t take it lightly.” - Kobe Bryant
RIP to the man who will be remembered as having the greatest work ethic in the history of the game of basketball and thus became an NBA legend.
With Alex Rivera today as he signs his National Letter of Intent at the Greater Lowell Boys and Girls Club. Amazing what he's accomplished. We so proud.
David Duke absolutely incredible tonight: 22 points (9 for 11 from floor), 13 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals. Providence score 71 points, Duke scores 22 and assists on another 20 points. That’s 42 of the 71 points and adds 13 rebounds and 2 steals for fun. That’s wow, wow, wow!
Providence College going through a 3 game stretch that includes URI, Boston College, and UMass (Friday). It would be great to add UConn to the list next season and play that game at the Mohegan Sun. That’s what New England basketball wants and needs.
Mass Rivals and UConn Alum Jalen Adams will be working out for the LA Lakers today. Has done the same for New Orleans,
Phoenix (2), Orlando, Boston, Toronto , Sacramento, Detroit and OKC.
AJ Reeves (24 pts) was incredible in this game but David Duke’s (9 pts, 9 asts) work on the defensive end on Ky Bowman was something special. The Freshman stepping up big time!
Wabissa Bede just landed at Logan Airport and on his way home to North Andover dropped off a little present for me. Just Bede being Bede and the reason everybody loves him.
So many good people and talented coaches in the grassroots business trying to figure out how to raise enough money to travel this Summer to showcase their prospects and keep their clubs relevant. 👏👏👏 for these people not making millions but making a difference in kids lives.
OUR PROMISES
1) No politics
2) We will play 100 % man-to-man D
3) We will move without basketball
4) We will share the basketball
5) We will play fast and physical
6) We will coach you very hard
7) We will love you harder than we coach you
8) We will win
9) Everybody will eat
Dallion Johnson yet another great Merrimack Valley story. Haverhill boy that found his way to Philips Andover, the best Prep School in the country, and next stop at Penn State to play basketball in the Big 10. The 6’2 combo guard has great work ethic and determination. Big time!
Congrats to Gianni Thompson on his commitment to Boston College today. Gianni has been in the gym for three years with us earning this special day. BC landed a talented, intelligent, and high character young man. He’s a winner in every way. Lots of love Gianni’s way.
Love my guy Wabissa Bede. The Mass Rival of all Mass Rivals. Player, coach, friend on every team he ever played on. Bede translates to winning. Somebody going to be very lucky when he puts on his next uniform.
UMass Amherst took the long drive to Lowell tonight to watch Luis Reynoso. It was all worth it. Reynoso earns his first division 1 scholarship tonight from the Minutemen.
Have already watched a lot of HS basketball:
My Evaluation:
1) kids really struggle scoring the basketball
2) presses are affective and turnovers are prevalent because kids lack ability to handle basketball
3) overall lack of toughness
4) offseason failed many
AVAILABLE: 6’2 dynamic PG Makai Ashton-Langford. Led the Mass Rivals to an undefeated Summer and three National Championships. Led Brewster Academy to an undefeated Winter and multiple Championships as well. Great kid who competes at a high level.
I watched Bert Hammel change lives from my days as a Merrimack College student right until the very end. Bert found a purpose for being, and he never stopped giving. Sad to lose him, but he lives on in all the people he has inspired through the years to be better in every way.
Thank you Wenyen Gabriel. He is likely the greatest Mass Rivals story since our beginning. He started off on the Mass Rivals high school “B” team before eventually making our “A” team and then came his meteoric rise to the
#14
ESPN ranking.
Lowell with a win tonight against a good Cambridge team. I’ve been a big fan of the Lowell program for a long time. They play hard, they play together & they are extremely well coached. High level competitors on the court and high level character guys off the court.
#TheLowellWay
It has never been about the sneakers one wears and has always been about the young man in the sneakers. Everybody needs teachers in their lives to help them develop the skills and knowledge to become self-directed. I’d recommend picking a coach, not a sneaker or a league.
Bill Gilmore was a great father and a great mentor to so many. We keep his son Jalen & his family in our prayers tonight. We will never forget Bill’s work at the Lowell Boys Club, the people he touched, and lives he changed. He chose a life of service. TY Bill. Heaven next stop.
Kyron Cartwright has made so many big baskets in his career. Big time two nights in a row. But the charge he took down the end of this game as big a basketball play a PG can make with the game on the line. Cartwright one of most underrated players in college basketball. Go PC!
I’ve been saying it all year that Providence opponents, including Richmond, have a defensive strategy to double team and stop Nate Watson and thus live with other Friars getting open looks. Providence been winning all year and Nate should of been MVP of the Big East.
ESPN 2020 NBA Mock Draft out and Mass Rivals and Brimmer & May Alum AJ Reeves sitting at
#35
. Nice to see AJ Reeves getting recognized for the hard work he’s put in. Just beginning but AJ on the board. Kudos to coach Tom Nelson for his nonstop work in the gym. A great teacher!
Mass Rivals graduates doing great things on/off the court and have earned over $1,000,000 of scholarships for 2017-18 NCAA season. We are ballin in the Big East, ACC, Big 10, PAC 12, SEC, Atlantic 10, AAC, Ivy, Patriot, Colonial, American East and more.
In his 1st college game, Alex Rivera with 5 pts in overtime and 14 on the game plus 5 rebounds in UMass Lowell win. Of all the kids I ever coached, the one opponents feared the most when he touched the ball was Alex Rivera. The River Hawks with a steal when they landed this guy.
#AdidasSummerChampionships

2) DeMarr Langford the next in line and Top 50 prospect
