After Tuesday's election disappointment, I kinda realized that of all times, right now is the time to be standing up for what you believe in. Right now is the time to plant my flag instead of cowering from the folks trying to tear it down. So this is me, planting my flag: 🏳️‍⚧️

Of the (probably five?) times I've installed Ruby on my system, I've never NOT had it fuck up all future Ruby/Jekyll/Bundler/WTF installs on that system. Today it was both Win11 and Ubuntu WSL. I don't know. These error messages have all been useless.

Started again with a fresh repository. Works fine on GH pages, but can't serve to test it locally. "Permission denied - bind(2) for 127.0.0.1:4000". Wiki says to install webrick. Still get the error. Run terminal as administrator. Still get the error. Nice.

Do the tutorials make sense? Yes (2020) but actually no (2024), the commands listed give you weird errors, require you to jump from site to site and are a pain to even read.

Can I deploy from a subfolder? Yes (2016) but actually no (2019) but actually yes (2020) but actually no (2024).

Using Jekyll/Ruby with Github pages again for the first time in 4 years. Nothing has changed, it's still the worst dev experience ever. Started on Windows, couldn't change the theme without weird errors. Tried on Linux, can't serve through WSL. Committed the site, blank page.

Roblox does and can do a lot of things well. "Being a social media platform" is just, not one of them IMO. It's just not even on the bingo card.

Caught a bit of the RDC stream, was immediately put off by the tone of the keynote. Doesn't seem like a dev conference. Not to imply that marketing and business growth don't count as "dev", but most of the keynote felt like a metaverse advertisement to their corp. partners.
