I’m blowing this pop stand tomorrow. In the 8 years I’ve been on this app, I’ve met some amazing people. Some truly beautiful people. And for that I am eternally grateful. But too many screens. Too much time. Too much noise.

Hug your friends. Guys, I’m talking to you too. Feel your feelings (as I always tell my son.) Ride a bike. Feels amazing. Make eye contact. Damn it’s powerful.

Listen to music on vinyl. It’s a tonic. Coffee is awesome. Just love the stuff. I’m glad cannabis is legal. It’s medicine. Some people need medicine some times.

What else? What other random thoughts…? Dogs are better than people. We don’t deserve them. Animals, as a whole – so much better than us.

I’ve have worked with some good people. Some true allies. Champions. Some of them I met on here. Again, eternally grateful for that. You know who you are. And I’ve worked with some horrible people too… you know who you are too.

Believe what you want. Anything. Sure. Why not? But if what you believe hurts someone else… If it belittles someone else… Degrades someone else… Tries to erase someone else… Why? Just ask yourself why.

There’s actually a lot of value in shutting the fuck up. It allows the opposite to happen: listening. More listening. I’ll be working on that too.

But don’t put that out on this app or other places in the world where those who somehow beat all the odds to make that film or television series. Shutting the fuck up is ALWAYS an option.

So… if you see something and you don’t like it, that’s fine. That’s good even. Discuss why you had the reaction you had with friends. With family. Over drinks.

Making films and television shows is hard. Not coal mining hard. (Although it can be physically exhausting.) It’s hard because there are so many obstacles. So maybe Nos. It’s a literal and actual miracle that anything gets made. Ever.

It makes us think. It opens eyes. It changes minds. That is the REAL value of art. And, ya know, historically those who have tried to control art and shut art down are always proven to be very VERY wrong!

Not the kind of value big tech and wall street salivate over (although it certainly has that which is why they can FUCKING PAY US!) But it has real, human, emotional value.

Starting with the obvious: the current state of the entertainment business. The business I’ve devoted the last 25 years of my life to. The strikes WILL end. There WILL be resolution. Of some kind. Why? Because art has value. Tremendous value.

We’ve become a world of opinions. Soapboxes. Anger. And it’s driven us further from what can only be the point of everything: connection. Real human connection. So… to add to the noise one more time…

A random collection of musings. Some more recent. Some collected over the last near decade. Do with them what you will. Because the caveat to all this is: no one knows anything. Myself included.

Too many opinions. My own included. So… OH THE IRONY! I’m gonna leave you with a thread of thoughts.
