A must-read for those who care about math education ( https://t.co/ESHrndKh9b). Credentials to teach math are crucial just like licensure is for doctors. Mentoring by highly-qualified math teachers then keeps new teachers in the profession. @RiceUSMP @RiceNatSci @RiceEngineering

Amen! Teaching is an art and a science. Not everyone can do this successfully. Inspiring students to love to learn takes a credentialed teacher. A warm body without this cannot be called a teacher. Please respect our teachers as the professionals who they are and let them teach.
I do not want to teach in a district where I was "coached" by several district administrators with zero mathematics teaching experience โ recall that Superintendent Mike Miles has no active teacher or superintendent certification โ about how to teach my advanced placement

Kudos to AMS for supporting the 2025 Research Symposium of AWM. The US can't afford to defund math research. It is vital to the health of our nation and is the foundation for the other sciences. Please speak up for math!!! We need bold action in these turbulent times. @RiceNatSci
