📌 Medicare and Medicaid will continue to operate during a shutdown, though staffing shortages may disrupt some services. 📌 Emergency disaster relief will largely remain in place, but other disaster agency operations will be slowed.

📌 Contractors who support federal agencies but are not direct government employees, will also lose work, and unlike federal staff, they have historically not received back pay, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

📌 Agencies such as the CDC and NIH are expected to furlough large numbers of employees, disrupting ongoing research projects and halting experiments already underway.

📌 Federal employees will bear the brunt of the shutdown, going without paychecks for its duration. 📌 Non-essential staff will be furloughed at home, though historically they’ve received back pay once the government reopens.
