We thank him for his service, to Elaine and the Hatch family for sustaining him all these years, and the great people of Utah for making the right choice on an outsider from Pittsburgh so many years ago. A very fond and loving farewell.

To his staff, colleagues, friends, and even perfect strangers, he was family. He served and cared for everyone like they were his own. He dedicated his life to service in the belief that the worth of every soul is great in the sight of God.

In addition to his unmatched work ethic, his passionate defense of his beliefs and principles, and his tremendous heart, one reason so many loved Senator Hatch was his sense of humor. https://t.co/orlCWpS6nh

Senator Hatch finished his life the way he finished his Senate career - sprinting through the finish line to ensure he never wasted a single moment. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Some highlights: https://t.co/Neis8FyhnS

Orrin Hatch was a valued colleague and a dear friend. When I was a new Senator, Orrin asked me to work with him on the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which has since provided health care for millions of children in low-income families. https://t.co/5ZZ42LFu8v

"Hatch was a bundle of seeming contradictions held together by decency. ... He was a Senator sui generis. There was no one quite like him before, and there will never be anyone quite like him again." Hatch's speechwriter pays tribute in @NRO

The first time I met Sen. Hatch, it was at a fundraising luncheon he was hosting for my boss, first-term Sen. McConnell. I was a junior staffer, but Hatch made a point of introducing himself to me, seating me at the table and noting my presence to the group. I never forgot it. 🙏

Sen. Hatch once told me that comity was the cartilage that made the Senate function. @senorrinhatch thank you for your guidance, kindness and friendship. And to Elaine - thank you for sharing Orrin with the nation.

Everyone in DC has an @OrrinHatch story… here’s my favorite… After we had our first baby, we brought her by the @NRSC where my wife was working. Senator Hatch came out of his way to see her, & said, “when you have 1 that beautiful, you need to have 8 or 9 more.”

Sen. Hatch administered my oath of office to the Senate. You couldn’t meet a more decent person. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Senator Orrin Hatch was an exceptional statesman and true freedom fighter. I enjoyed working with him on intellectual property issues to protect our creative communities — like the Music Modernization Act, which would not have been possible without his leadership.
