@DanielaGabor What a sad sad day. There are reports coming in that the tipping point for one of the planetary boundaries (coral reef) is crossed while economists are still awarded for models on economic growth-the never-ending pursuit of which is driving us over the cliff!

Congrats to this year's Nobel Prize winners in economics. In particular, to Philippe Aghion, who played a role in my own intellectual & career development and movement from academic to becoming an expert at trading CFTC-regulated commodity futures. Here's a short thread.

What we must all remember from the Gaza genocide is that the international system is rotten to its core and needs to be completely replaced. We cannot accept a system where Western governments and leaders can commit genocide and war crimes with total impunity. We cannot accept

I said that this year’s Nobel Prize in Economics is a farce. Some people are reacting strongly to my loaded statement. I understand. I want to be clear that my statement is not intended as a direct critique of the three scholars who received the prize. But I hope people

This year’s Nobel Prize in Economics is a farce. There’s an entire field of innovation studies — building on Schumpeter’s insights — that *actually* explains innovation-driven economic growth. This field is full of brilliant economists. But apparently, they’re considered too

In a year when there are hundreds of candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize in Gaza, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to use the prize to manufacture consent for a US invasion of Venezuela. I’m embarrassed to call myself Norwegian. Europe is becoming a US vassal.

Neoclassical economics is built on myths — and none is more absurd than the idea of homo economicus: the perfectly rational, fully informed, self-interested human who supposedly drives all economic decision-making. But does such a person exist? Of course not. We are emotional,
