I appreciate this thoughtful analysis by Jon Greeting at @thephilacitizen of my recent proposal to Index State Tax Collections. This is an out of the box solution to enable southeastern PA to fund the services and projects we want - and that includes SEPTA.

I trust that leaders on both sides of the Capitol are continuing to work together to fund transportation across PA; however, time has run out. Southeastern PA contributes 40% of our state’s revenues. If the Senate won't adequately fund our needs, we can do it ourselves.

The House has passed 5 transportation bills that adequately fund mass transit plus roads and bridges – all without raising taxes. The Senate’s bill is not a serious solution. With SEPTA service cuts starting in two days, our backs are against the wall.

I'm proud to announce that $2.51 million has been awarded for a safety improvement project along Route 23. This safety improvement project includes several enhancements by PennDOT. I'm excited for these improvements to benefit our community.

I have been contacted by numerous individuals who rely on SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority), and I have also received feedback from colleagues across the aisle who do not believe SEPTA is worthy of funding. This is a pragmatic solution. @SEPTAPHILLY

Yesterday I dropped a memo, (legislation to follow) with a new method of Indexing of State Tax Collections, (See 📷) to ensure that each region in PA funds its own schools, transit, and police using their own resources.

For years I have listened to my Honorable Republican colleagues disparage SEPA our communities, our diversity, our schools, our mass transit and our “out of control spending” without offering any meaningful solutions or compromise that is responsible or economically effective.

Tt seems that they do not want the Commonwealth’s economy to grow, thrive and attract and maintain events like America250PA, Philadelphia Eagles season, and World Cup soccer.

As a Democrat member of a slim majority in the PA House, we have sent the Republican lead Senate five bills to help all mass transit and statewide infrastructure. We have addressed their concerns and after hearing members speak.

We are out of time regarding SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority). Students are going back to school, hospital workers and home caretakers routes are being slashed.

It is an honor to have been appointed by @repmcclinton to serve on the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority. The work of the BFTDA is critical to Pennsylvania’s economic development and the ongoing creation of quality job opportunities.
