With six local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) in Pennsylvania not meeting state requirements, I introduced legislation today to require the state Department of Aging to make public all non-compliant AAAs and action plans to correct issues.

Thanks to all who came out to my latest Shredding with Schmitt event last night. We destroyed a lot docs that would have fallen into the wrong hands. BIG thanks to all who donated to the @CentralPAHumane. We collected more than $1,500 and a lot of supplies!

Remember that pig I bought ? Well, I had it butchered into whole hog sausage at Country Smokehouse in Williamsburg and donated the sausage to Reapers Food Ministry in Altoona.

Delighted that the old Booker T. Washington basketball court in Altoona was recently renamed for Don Witherspoon, longtime president of the Blair County NAACP and a pillar of our community. I played a lot of basketball on that court back & visiting brought back great memories.

The state champions Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School football team came to the Capitol earlier this week. The team beat out Redbank Valley to capture its first PIAA Class 1A title in five years. Way to go, boys!
