This past week I presided over the U.S. House of Representatives for the final time. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Indiana’s 8th district.

As a physician, I know how important it is to champion patient-centered health policies that give doctors and their patients the freedom to make their own healthcare decisions as opposed to Washington bureaucrats. As I close out my final months in Congress, I urge my fellow.

Ultimately, comprehensive reforms will be necessary. Congress needs to provide clarity around the intent of the program and accountability for use of the savings. I have introduced multiple pieces of legislation to inform this conversation; most recently, I circulated the 340B.

Over the past decade, ambiguity in the statute and a lack of oversight from agency officials has allowed 340B to grow exponentially into a massive federal program worth more than $53 Billion, plagued by uncertainty and chaos as those involved in the program try to leverage.

Originally intended to serve as a lifeline for thousands of Hoosiers and millions of Americans who struggle to afford life-saving medications, the 340B Drug Discount Program requires drug manufacturers to provide covered entities with certain medicines at a substantially.

As millions of Americans grapple with affording health care, it is critical we ensure that our federal health programs serve those they were intended for rather than lining the pockets of middlemen who are driving the country toward more consolidation in the health care system.

Hamas has held hostages - including four Americans – in captivity for the past year. We pray that the Hamas terrorists in Gaza will quickly release all the hostages and allow them to return to their families.

A year ago, Hamas' terrorist attack in Israel resulted in the brutal massacre of over 1,200 innocent men, women, and children, while many others were beaten, raped, or taken hostage. The United States must continue to stand beside Israel as it defends its citizens from Hamas.
