Good news. The House Armed Services Committee just adopted my bipartisan amendment to close a funding gap for 2 Virginia-class submarines in the 2026 budget. A chaotic budget process left a huge shortfall for Virginia submarines. Our committee worked in a bipartisan fashion to

President Trump is trying to force American taxpayers to pay for his luxury Qatari plane. And his Administration isn’t even being transparent about the costs! We know that retrofitting a plane to be Air Force One costs into the BILLIONS. I filed an NDAA amendment to prohibit any.

This year’s defense budget process has been messy & chaotic. The Trump Administration failed to provide a strategically-sound budget and inexplicably split funding into two vehicles: the base budget & the reconciliation bill. But once again, the Seapower Subcommittee overcame the

We need an all of the above approach to lowering energy costs. The partisan GOP budget bill just sent us in the wrong direction by eliminating clean energy tax credits. I visited solar and battery business Earthlight Tech in Ellington to hear the impact of these cuts on CT.

Even as families across the country are struggling with rising food costs, the partisan GOP budget bill passed last week makes huge cuts to food assistance programs to pay for tax breaks for the rich. At Access Agency in Willimantic, which enrolls needy families in SNAP and

President Trump promised that he would “love and cherish” Medicaid and Medicare. Now, he just signed into law the largest cut to Medicaid in U.S. history in a bill that is so fiscally irresponsible, it will also trigger a $500 billion cut to Medicare. All to give the rich a tax

I voted NO on the largest health care cut in U.S. history, a tax giveaway for the rich, and a $3.4 trillion increase to the deficit. We have a golden opportunity to lower costs, grow the economy, & cut the debt. Instead, the GOP jammed through this reckless bill. Like any law, it.

Back in DC to vote on the awful 900-page “Big Beautiful Bill”. I’m a BIG NO. The American people oppose this bill by a 2-1 margin. Keep making your voices heard!

The Senate just passed a 900-page megabill that will kick millions off their health care and force the hospitals we all rely on to close. All to pay for a permanent tax break for the top 1% AND still blow up the deficit by TRILLIONS. The fight now moves to the House to stop.

The health care cuts in the "Big Beautiful Bill" are so massive that hospitals across Connecticut will be forced to scale back services for all patients. I heard that from L+M Hospital in New London on the shoreline and now from Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford near the

This week, I met with the Connecticut Nurses Association, who earnestly stressed how much health care providers rely on strong federal Medicaid funding. As they bluntly stated, Medicaid pays for nurses. We must stop the massive Medicaid cuts in the misnamed “Big Beautiful Bill”.

The Supreme Court’s decision to limit the reach of well established citizenship rights in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution to random federal district court geographic zones tramples on the principle of “equal justice under the law”, enshrined on the Supreme Court building.
