I’m relieved to hear that two of the injured Iowa National Guard members are back in the United States with their families while the third was treated and returned to duty. Our troops are real heroes.

Following last weekend’s attack, I’m grateful to our troops, including Iowa National Guard members stationed in Syria, for eliminating threats from ISIS terrorists. We continue to pray for their safety and for the families of Sergeant Howard and Sergeant Torres-Tovar.

I’m excited that President Trump signed the NDAA, which includes great news for the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City. I secured authorization to construct a new runway at the Sioux Gateway Airport so that the 322,000-pound KC-135 Stratotankers can take off and land safely.

Sergeant Nate Howard and Sergeant Edgar Torres-Tovar are real Iowa heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our grateful nation. I’m humbled to help lead a congressional resolution honoring these brave Iowans and recognizing their incredible courage.
