I joined my colleagues in New Mexico yesterday to stand against President Trump’s push to gerrymander Texas’s congressional districts mid-decade. Because, what starts in Texas will shape the rest of the nation. Thank you @GovMLG for being a gracious host and meeting with us.

I will continue to work with my colleagues this special session to eliminate the STAAR test. We need an accountability system that measures actual wholistic student growth and success. Not a one-day snapshot on how well of a test-taker they are. #txlege.

This week many of my Valley colleagues & I invited the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting to the RGV to host a field hearing. Though one has not been scheduled, our community stands ready to host such a hearing on this topic that will greatly impact us.#txlege

There’s still more work ahead to combat unfair trade practices and support our domestic seafood producers. As shrimping season begins—I’m wishing everyone a safe, bountiful harvest. Thank you to the hardworking folks who make it all possible!.

This year, we took a big step forward in the #txlege with SB 823, which requires accurate labeling for shrimp. Texans deserve to know where their seafood comes from, and this bill helps protect local, wild-caught shrimp from unfair competition.
