As we strive to end this shutdown/health care crisis, I joined our Hawai’i Foodbank’s great volunteers at a special food distribution for our veterans, military and federal employees at Keehi Lagoon Memorial Park, with over 550 families coming thru for assistance.

Much of my work on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, responsible for all national defense and intelligence funding, aims at making sure our Hawai’i fully benefits from our major defense presence, including our local businesses and workers. Here’s what it’s all

A constant for Hawai’i on Capitol Hill from pre-Statehood is a strong partnership with our Alaska colleagues. I met with freshman Nick Begich, the sole U.S. Rep from our ‘ohana to the North, to continue working together on our mutual challenges. Plus a little mac nut diplomacy;

I’m back on Capitol Hill to work with like-minded colleagues on ending this shutdown, averting this healthcare crisis and much more. But the Speaker refuses for a sixth straight week to call the House back into session to do our work. That’s no way to solve real problems, and
