My statement on Republicans’ messy funding fight:

Without a holistic care infrastructure to support us, our economy and society simply cannot thrive. I believe with all my heart that bold, public investments in care for people, communities, and the environment can anchor the rebirth of our country and secure our future.

When we fight for the infrastructure that enables us all to give and receive care, we are all better off. But care workers, disproportionately Black and brown women, are undervalued and exploited in America today, and people and families struggle to access care.

To build an economy that enables all of us to thrive, we need an agenda grounded in care for our workers, our families and communities, and our planet instead of profit or power.

Today, @SenWarren and I, along with our colleagues, reintroduced the Care for All Agenda resolution to dramatically expand and strengthen the care economy and improve conditions and compensations for care workers nationwide 🧵

To my brother in service: Your voice in Congress has been a powerful force for justice, education, and transformative change. From the classroom to the Capitol, you've never stopped fighting for your community. Your departure is not an end, but a continuation of the movement.

He was in Congress because he wanted to make life better for working people. That's really just it. We'll always be with @RepBowman.

In his final speech as a member of Congress, @RepBowman asked his colleagues to question why they're in their positions — who are they serving if it's not everyday working people? We know many are in their positions just because they want power. But Rep. Bowman wasn't.

Mom, I love you and I thank you. Congress is better because of you, because of what you raised me to be.

The next Congress must have the courage to fight for working class people and be true representatives of their constituents. Otherwise, we have to ask ourselves, why are we here? What are we here for?

America, the death & suffering of these people is on us. This isn’t who we are. We can do better. @potus bring these people home.

The closure of Rafah crossing is no excuse because the U.S. has successfully advocated for American doctors & urgent medical cases to exit Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing.

Recently met attorney @mariakari1414 who shared that she’s working on her 4th lawsuit on behalf of Americans trapped in Gaza. 412 days - that’s how long these people have been waiting for @potus & @statedept to act.
