“Public policy has too often treated men’s suffering as inevitable or invisible. But suffering is not destiny. It’s a signal. When we listen, we have the opportunity to build stronger, safer, healthier communities.” @RepBerg on her pioneering Bill to create a Boys and Men’s

After visiting local farmers hit with unfair tax hikes, Rep Low and I knew we had to act. We're proposing a bill that protects family farms, allowing them to diversify without financial penalties. Supporting our farmers means strengthening rural economies. https://t.co/0rQEPA1b0o

This is a blatant attack on innovation and progress. Scientific research drives our future, from medical breakthroughs to clean energy solutions. Defunding it will have a widespread negative impact globally.

Beyond proud to be sponsoring this bill making breakfast + lunch free for all K-12 students in WA, with @marcusriccelli! Ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals supports their health and academic performance, and reduces food insecurity. https://t.co/YyyoaLuPJP

@NWCivicCircle Many call for proper funding of essential services but offer no real solutions for budget shortfalls. This legislative session, I’ll focus on pursuing fair, responsible tax increases to ensure critical programs like education, public safety and healthcare are fully funded.

“If you’re saying we can’t raise taxes, you’re telling me you don’t want your cops to have a living wage. If we go backwards and don’t start paying for what we need to pay for, we’re in trouble.” Great panel at @NWCivicCircle’s 2025 Legislative Preview https://t.co/dMA7vnPZ4N

I 100% agree with @votenicolemacri! Massive cuts are not the solution to the problem ahead of us. Now is the time to find new revenue options and to make smart investments. https://t.co/1kZEUk11P6

Quality child care allows parents more freedom to pursue economic opportunities and it supports the health and cognitive development of our kids. Accessing quality child care is foundational to achieving economic justice for WA families & I vow to fight to expand that access.

Creating jobs in rural areas reduces unemployment, and supports the cultivation of strong rural communities by both stimulating local economic growth & ensuring rural residents spend less time & resources traveling to urban areas for work. 🌎

Rural job creation is paramount to achieving economic freedom in WA. This is why I fight for bills like ESHB 1846 which was crafted with care to create family-wage jobs, boost state & local tax revenues, and protect our environment for future generations.

Since 2017, data centers in Washington have generated thousands of jobs, many in historically underinvested communities like Quincy and East Wenatchee.

This Substack article touches on the Supporting America’s Children and Families Act, a bipartisan bill infuses $75M more per year into combatting child abuse and protecting children in the foster care system. Something to keep our eyes on!

“House Finance Chair April Berg showed leadership last year when she held a session to help lawmakers better understand the challenge. Now the Legislature must devise an approach to education funding that truly gives children what they need.”

Despite doubling money for schools since the McCleary lawsuit of 2012, the riddle of public education funding in Washington has not been solved.

🏡This year, I intro’d the Affordable Homes Act, to provide sustainable funding to address housing affordability. Equitable access to affordable housing lessens financial burdens, creating opportunities for economic mobility. I’ll continue to push HB 2276 past the finish line.

🌍 December is Universal Human Rights Month—a time to reflect on how economic freedom is key to unlocking so many fundamental rights. This month, I’ll discuss how economic justice helps make these rights attainable and share how I’ll keep supporting these efforts in my 3rd term.
