On Sunday, we lost two beloved members of our air race community. Chris Rushing and Nick Macy were extraordinary pilots and pillars in the aviation community. As veteran gold winners in the T-6 class, they were truly champions on and off the race course. (1/4)
The sun has risen over the final day of racing in Reno and we are filled with a sense of nostalgia buoyed by great excitement for the next chapter in the history of this cherished event. As you look back through the years in Reno, what is your favorite memory?
The RARA Board of Directors and the T-6 class president are working to notify next of kin and ensure families have all of our support. There were no civilian injuries and we’re in the process of confirming additional details around the incident. (2/-)

Both expertly skilled pilots and Gold winners in the T-6 Class, Macy piloted Six-Cat and Rushing flew Baron’s Revenge. Families of both pilots have been notified and support services are onsite as they deal with this tragedy. (2/-)

There were no civilian casualties and RARA is doing everything we can to support the families and friends of the involved pilots. After conversations with the families and with the race classes, we have made the decision to cancel the remainder of the races. (3/-)

Rest in peace to Charles E. McGee, one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. He was an amazing man and friend of the air races. He will be deeply missed. Charles was a fighter pilot who flew a remarkable 409 combat missions. A true American hero. Thank you for everything.
