Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

Important moments in (recent) Church History: 29 January 2007 @ 5:42 am Anonymous commenter Geri takes a tagline from a popular TV show of the year and transforms it into the rallying cry of a generation of Catholics:

The forces of Boomer Catholicism are trying to recover, so we must unite against them under our shared mission: Save the Liturgy, Save the World. Divided we will fail, but united in the Holy Spirit and the gates of Hell will not prevail against our onslaught.

Priests: The Breviary is downstream of the rest of the liturgy. Pray it faithfully and pray it piously though it seem useless. Stand and sit and kneel, even when you are alone. Sometimes even chant and light candles. The fate of the world is at stake.
Politics is downstream of culture. Culture is downstream of religion. Religion is downstream of liturgy. Save the liturgy, save the world.

Mutual enrichment only works when strong Trad parishes show the world a living Extraordinary Form, so we have to support their future. But they must abhor any denigration of the Ordinary Form being enriched, as if a properly celebrated Ordinary Form were just a watered down EF.

As a priest who believes that the Ordinary Form is the future of the Church, but only if properly reformed by the Extraordinary Form, I have seen resistance from both sides. Trads who consider it a halfway measure and boomers who weep for their failed revolution.

People who understand how the first sentence is more important than everything Pope Francis ever wrote combined need to follow the rest of that quote. Believe in the mission that Pope Benedict sent us on: the mutual enrichment.

β¦their proper place. Needless to say, in order to experience full communion, the priests of the communities adhering to the former usage cannot, as a matter of principle, exclude celebrating according to the new books.

What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Churchβs faith and prayer, and to give themβ¦

Six months later Summorum Pontificum was released. No amount of bishops banning altar rails and ad orientem can ever stop the movement that this clarion call embodied defined by the theology that Summorum taught.

Well, your liberalism thinks that having babies is βinsidiousβ, so maybe your liberalism failed.
The Economist was created 182 years ago to campaign for liberalism. But today we are living in a post-liberal age. Find out what has gone wrong and what liberals should do to defend it: https://t.co/8W22yCMG6l

Paid agent of the Chinese Communist Party claims that Americans having babies is βinsidiousβ. I wonder if he also thinks the American military and economic strength are insidious? The American relationship with Taiwan? That is probably especially insidious.
With Trump and Vance in power, many pro-natalists believe this is the moment to jump-start baby-making. But some critics see pro-natalism as part of an insidious project to create a whiter America

Though in such a society, there would be no pornography because the adults wouldnβt allow it and only adults would be able to vote.

Unquestionably part of it: you cannot have looked at pornography in the last year.

In a healthy society, adulthood is granted after passing a test. Some part of it is IQ, but what else should be required of all people who want to be treated as adults? Max weight or some other objective measure of self-control? Accomplishing some good for society?
Aristotle is wrong to say that some men are natural slaves. He should have said that most men are natural children. Society should not grant the privileges and responsibilities of adulthood to every 18-year-old, but only to those who are actually able to grow up.

This is where the liberal democracy gets things wrong. Is it treating people like children to say that you can only use credit card debt for good things? That you cannot use SNAP for Snickers? Maybe, but then some people need to be treated as children.
