Odd that Quenneville broke up the Vatrano Strome Killorn line. That line has been very good for the Ducks since they were put together.

This is going to be a very important 2-3 weeks for this team to clean up the defensive mistakes that have ailed them for a lot of the season. Dostal has been a stalwart that has papered over a lot of these mistakes for the season. This is a massive stretch for this team

I would not really classify this as a bad game because they looked their most dangerous offensively in a week or two in this one, but the issues defensively do keep popping up

The Ducks felt like the better team for large portions of that game with them controlling play at 5v5 for good stretches and looking dangerous, but they let the Canucks get too many glorious chances. xG totals at 5v5 ended up at 3.16 for VAN to 2.65 for the Ducks.

Then, Mintyukov gets his ice time and can hopefully make strides in his game at the NHL level. Either way, he needs to play, and sitting in the press box for extended periods of time won't do any good right now

Helleson has been better than Mintyukov this year, so I would not blame the Ducks for playing him, but if they run LaCombe Moore as the top pairing like they did to end last night, I don't think the dropoff from Helleson to Mintyukov is that impactful on the 3rd pairing

Mintyukov still has a ton of talent and upside, so in my opinion, they either need to get him in the AHL, where he can play 20+ mins a night to rehab his game, or you have to sit Helleson to play Mintyukov

The Ducks might need to adjust their approach with Mintyukov because this tough love approach has not seemed to work well with him, like it had with Olen. That is not a shot at Pavel either; if you have managed people, you know that everyone responds to things differently.

This was the 2nd game for the Ducks where through two periods the Ducks were outplayed and held in the game by stellar goaltending. That just is not a recipe for success in the NHL and while they got the win yesterday, it bit them tonight.
