@ReigateRabbit Has the SCC leader been grappling with how he grabs wealth in East Surrey to pay for losses elsewhere? Can we ask the opposite question? Can we have an election to determine who we want to grapple with this question other than the current incumbent?

Cancelling elections is deeply undemocratic. Councillors need to be accountable to their electorate & although unitary authorities are desirable a rushed solution without consultation & agreement risks a bodge job #LetSurreyVote

@ReigateRabbit If he wants to do this & force it on us, it should come with the caveat that he rules himself out of being mayor if the option comes up in 2027-28. It would slightly soothe my nerves that forcing a debt mountain onto those who didn't cause it is for self serving reasons.

@RedhillWragg @ReigateRabbit Very true - as far as I am aware Reigate and Banstead is the only council in Surrey with Financial reserves. They should not be used to pay of the debts of other councils in Surrey. We need our Theatre replaced and a proper Police Station, not sent elsewhere.

@kate45248694 @reigatebanstead Hi Kate - The fencing around the Bell Tower remains in place because of ongoing structural monitoring. A further review is scheduled next month to assess whether the fencing can be removed or must remain to allow for necessary repairs. 1/2
