I've definitely seem some egregious examples of localization that pissed me off too, but if everything was translated in the most literal, plain language, it'd be awfully boring, and even inaccurate to the original intention of the script.

This might be my hottest take, but there's gotta be SOME localization. Even in the example OP posted there's a bit of localization for the lines. There's a point of balance between making the script sound good in english, and keeping the original meaning and intention from the jp
