In a new podcast for Holocaust Memorial Day, Regard Co-Chair Dr Ju Gosling and Mx Dennis Queen discuss how attitudes to #AssistedDying are still impacted by Nazi ideology, and the disproportionate effect this will have on the LGBTQI+ community. @hmdt.

Twice as many LGBT+ people commit suicide in the UK compared to others. Now anyone can refuse cancer treatment and be guaranteed an assisted suicide on the NHS, while thousands will continue to suffer appalling deaths each year because of lack of palliative care. Disgraceful.
Devastated at the #AssistedDyingBill passing through the House of Commons - a tiny majority of 23 on a Private Member's Bill is no way to pass through legislation that will drastically alter how Disabled people trust and engage with healthcare professionals.

Just to point out @EHRC that the vast majority of ‘Disabled’ toilets are unisex. Are you seriously saying that provision must now be made separately for cis Disabled women? Or is ‘discriminatory’ provision okay if it’s for Disabled people?.
We have shared an interim update on the practical implications of the Supreme Court’s judgment in For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers:

All because a billionaire using male pseudonyms to write about physically flawed male characters & known personally by a non-binary name can’t face the truth about themselves. #TransRightsAreHumanRights.

Protesting individual MPs is an important tactic, but has to be done carefully to minimise the risk to people in hard situations who may be seeking help.

So much for the promised and desperately needed ‘National Care Service’. By the autumn many of us will face an ultimate choice of assisted suicide or making our loved ones destitute. As with the NHS, what we actually need is a comprehensive, free, and much better service.

Regard is delighted to see @stephenctimms appointed to lead on disability issues. He has our full confidence and support. We look forward to seeing regular consultations with Disabled Peoples Organisations restart after being abandoned by the last government in 2019.
My @Guardian story: Sir Stephen Timms, high profile parliamentary critic of the carer's allowance scandal, has been given ministerial responsibility for the issue.

Although at least one survivor of the Admiral Duncan bombing was left using a wheelchair, the pub was rebuilt still with a front step. Today, anyone requiring step-free access has to hope that a portable ramp and staff are available & everyone else will wait, or go elsewhere.
Today is the 25th anniversary of the bombing of the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho, London. The attack was part of a series of three bombings designed to stir up racial and homophobic hatred in April 1999. Today we remember those who were lost or injured in the attacks.
